Onboarding costs are an important factor to consider when calculating the full financial impact that attrition has on an organization. While some expenses may be hard dollars (example, paying an external recruiting firm), other expenses may be though of as soft dollars, such as employees time spent supporting IT and HR requirements.

In considering the full cost of attrition to an organization, WFM Labs recommends establishing an average cost per agent to capture both hard and soft dollar expenses, looking minimally at:

  • Recruiting Costs
  • Onboarding Costs
    • IT Support
    • IT Hardware/Software Costs
    • HR Support

Your organization may have additional costs you assign, such as supervisor/agent ratio in higher turnover environments.
